Oh, no? Weird, me either.
ANYWAY
New Year, new attitude, new goals, NEW NEW NEW!
New blog post to kick off the year!!! In February!! I'll blame my delayed new year post on the fact that I'm really uncomfortable with uneven numbers. 2013 as a number reallllllly bothers me!
I had a fabulous Christmas Season, I meant to blog about it but I just couldn't force myself to stop watching White Christmas, Elf, The Santa Claus, and every other Christmas movie ever made. :) Have I mentioned how much I absolutely LOVE Christmas? In a big geeky way.
Ah well, another time!
New Year's Goals!
I have a few, but my motto for 2013: Healthy Living.
I know, it's sooooo original and new.
But really, being healthy is important! Over the past 4 years I have become increasingly more motivated to lead a healthy life style. I've lost 40 lbs but I want to maintain it and continue healthy habits! I'm not just talking about passing on the cheesecake and working out more often, I mean physical, spiritual, and emotional health!
I understand that's a tall order but my life motto is "Go big or go home!" (that's new too.)
I'll focus on physical health in this post! But really, physical, spiritual, and emotional health are all related! I think this is something I've never realized before and possibly what has held me back in the past from really pursuing a healthy lifestyle! I was not in prayer about being healthy! So I've been reading some scripture about how God wants us to treat our bodies!
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
A temple!! Don't get me wrong. I LOVE food. I have a deep and emotional connection to chocolate and if all things "salted caramel" were wiped off the planet I don't think I could find the will to live. (kidding. duh) I just know that I don't want to be winded when I run around with my kids and I don't want to be diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 50 because of the way I eat. It's about balance!
So I found this program to kind of jump start my clean eating and workout schedule called LiveFit by Jamie Eason. I think it's a really great program because it focuses on what's best for your body and how to sustain a healthy lifestyle.
So how's it going so far? I started the program in mid-January but I think I'm going to start it again because I haven't been giving it 100%!! Having said that, I still think it's going pretty well!! I'll start with a High point for the year so far: For one week I ate nothing but "clean foods" and I felt awesome!! I also went to the gym 4 times that week!!
I'm still keeping up with eating clean but you see, self serve frozen yogurt happened and it basically went down hill from there. BUT my "cheats" are sooooo much less than they used to be. So, go me!!! And I've been hitting the gym regularly but not 4 times a week which is how often I'd like to be going.
Low point: One Saturday I literally didn't leave the house and I was so incredibly lazy that when an infomercial for Cindy Crawford's skin care line came on TV, I couldn't even be motivated to change the channel. I heard the phrases "erase fine lines" and "get healthy, glowing, youthful skin!" more times than I can count. THAT is lazy. Truly lazy. Also, there were M&M's involved. YIKES.
If we're being real though, I really want to try that skin care line. I'm tempted to make "two easy payments of just $19.95" and begin my journey to flawless skin.
So it's a process. I definitely mess up and "cheat" when I shouldn't but I'm working on it. And I'm motivated to lead a healthy lifestyle! And more importantly, I'm giving it to God!
There's my monstrous sized physical health goal: Clean eating and the gym 4 times a week. It's a challenge but if we're not challenging ourselves, we're gonna get bored and too comfy! (I read that somewhere, I'm sure.)
Next update: Spiritual Health!
